The environment is indisputably one of the topics that occupies the most space in both the media and society today. The much-discussed global warming has been lurking under the surface for many years and is suddenly clearly visible in practice. In Denmark, we have witnessed one of the wettest and warmest winters ever. One of the many initiatives that have been proposed in connection with combating climate change is to reduce the consumption of plastic.

Plastic - why does it pollute?
Plastic is one of the 20th century's most important inventions, because it is cheap, durable, and full of possibilities. The production and consumption of plastic has increased significantly in recent decades, but this has also led to a major problem: namely that tons of hard-to-degrade plastic floats around in our world's oceans, harming both fish, plants, and people. The American academic journal Science documented in 2015 that between 4 and 12 million tonnes of plastic end up in the sea every year. At least 90% of the plastic that floats around the world's oceans has ended up there through river systems, and almost all of the plastic pollution originates from just 10 large rivers - 8 of which are located in Asia.

What all 10 most polluting rivers have in common is that they flow through densely populated areas where millions of people live, whose consumption of plastic is the background for almost all the plastic that ends up in the world's oceans. The plastic that floats around in the sea has the ability to absorb environmental toxins and dangerous chemicals, which the animals then take with them when they mistakenly think it is food. We humans also risk ingesting microplastics with dangerous poisons for example when we eat fish. Plastic that accumulates in nature also stops watercourses and suffocates plants.

Return program with PARK
It is therefore clear that plastic can have very negative consequences for the environment, which is why we at PARK Styling have chosen to take responsibility with our initiative that we call:

Used Bottle Recycle Program

We encourage you to hand in your empty PARK packaging to your local PARK hairdresser and, thereby, receive a return value of 2,5€ per bottle.

As all our products are based on natural and sustainable ingredients, we strive for at sustainable live cycle for all our products as is why we have made the return system. Our packaging is made from PET, one of the most used types of plastic in the European packaging industry. PET is also one of the biggest contributors to recyclable plastics, and can be recycled both through mechanical and chemical processing.

What happens to your used PARK packaging?
Your used PARK packaging is handled by CityContainer, which ensures that all the plastic is recovered for instance to make coat hangers or sideview mirror - there are many possibilities. The only alternative solution on the market right now is burning, which is also the cheapest solution, but which we at PARK Styling do not support. That is why we have chosen a solution that we can vouch for and that we think is the most appropriate for a sustainable future for our planet. And we hope you will help us!
